I also know that we will have to patiently tolerate and forgive those who still make these mistakes - the "me, me, me" phase being a necessary phase of growing up. I went through it too (fortunately that was mostly before social media made everything bigger!)
I have started unfollowing the people who do that unless I have a strong reason not to. It's tricky at times. We do want to know if someone we took courses from before is offering a new course. We do need some ads. But yes, minimal.
